Cessnock Laneways energised with local Art

May 16 Cessnock Laneways energised with local Art

The first Cessnock Lane Way Project was opened by Mayor Bob Pynsent on 13 May 2014.

Cessnock Chamber of Commerce is focusing on revitalising the numerous laneways in the Cessnock CBD. The first lane way, located next to Mama's Cafe was recently re-opened with a selection of wonderfully bright, interesting and unique installations depicting the work of renowned Hunter Valley Artist - Peter Sesselmann. This project is the start of what is hoped to be many new exciting lane way "makeovers" for the Cessnock town.

The lane way alongside Mama's Cafe connects pedestrian traffic from the Coles Supermarket Complex, through the carparks and onto the main street, Vincent Street. It is a vital linkage between key parking and shopping areas in the CBD and by brightening the space, the Cesssnock Chamber of Commerce and Cessnock City Council hope that both residents and visitors will increase their use of these thoroughfares.

Come and visit this laneway and you'll see beneath each painting there is a unique code. Use the code to vote for your favourite painting. People who vote (like) for their favourite image will go in a draw to win a print of that painting to a value of $250! Happy voting everyone!

Be sure to swing past Mamas Cafe to check it out. Keep watch for the next lane way to start work.
