The internationally-acclaimed Sydney Balalaika Orchestra is dedicated to the folk music of Russia. They will perform a ‘Siberian Adventure’ in the stunning Sister’s Chapel at Sacred Spaces at the Sisters of Mercy Convent, Singleton, in the Hunter Valley.
It will be an exciting program with Russian vocalists and a dazzling instrumental performance played on authentic folk instruments, including the balalaika. Their repertoire includes light classical and traditional folk music. The performers share their love for the beauty of the authentic Russian folk music, where mellow, melancholic themes are juxtaposed by lively, energetic melodies.
They are Australia’s only 30 member Russian folk orchestra, under the direction of Victor Serghie. As well as performing throughout NSW, Victoria and the ACT for the last 30 years, they have also undertaken extensive tours in Russia and China, as well as New Zealand.
