The name “Moore” is synonymous with the Australian wine industry and the Moorebank family has a rich history in the Hunter Valley with Debra Moore’s great, great grandfather was given a grant to come out to Australia from London in 1840 to plant Semillon and make Sherry. Enjoy a “Passion of the Senses” cellar door tasting experience delivered with fun and unintimidating education, complete with a range of wines to compare varying vintages. Followed on with tastings of 12 handmade wine inspired condiments.
Ian Burgess and Debra Moore of Moorebank Vineyard Estate produce a range of sustainably grown, ultra-premium wines along with their “Belissima” bottles with some of them being named after their children (and famous black sheep).
Groups are accepted up to 48 people, when a booking is made.
Moorebank’s other focus is condiments made from grapes, some of which come from old family vineyard recipes. Grape and Semillon Spread, Spiced Pickled Grapes and the famous Spicy Grape Sauce have been handed down from Debra’s 102 year old grandmother. Debra also makes a range of other wine inspired condiments that come from vegetables grown on the property like Lemon, Chilli, Semillon Dipper, Orange and Chardonnay Spread and the fresh handmade Lemonade as well as 20 year old aged vinegar. Some of these hand made condiments are excellent accompaniments with cheese, meats and seafood.
Farm and Nature Experiences
Aside from sustainable vineyard practices and traditional practices, Moorebank offer a hands on nature and farm experience with their many local Kangaroos, King parrots, galahs, black swans and kookaburras. Sheep and wool production are also part of the Moore ancestry and Moorebank are embarking on the breeding of the rare miniature”Teddy Bear” sheep that can graze in the vineyard, eating weeds but not the grapes or foliage. Viewing and tasting, all this vineyard estate has to offer, on picturesque Palmers Lane is an experience for your memory.
