Wine D Road Tours
I grew up immersed in the wine industry in Mudgee where my father was the vineyard manager for a 250ac vineyard. Because of this I have an inside knowledge of the wine industry, and a love of wine, and feel adequately qualified to run a wine tour.
Based out of Rosebrook, near Maitland, where we also operate romantic, pet friendly, guest cottages, (Cadair Cottage), we struggled to be able to get tour operators willing to service the needs of our customers in this locality. A quick survey of other accommodation providers in the area found that they had the same problem. Additionally, because the tour operators that do service this area are not based in this area, our guests that did get a wine tour operator to collect them, would find themselves on the bus for several hours collecting other guests before they commenced the wine tour.
Under the belief that we should always aim to provide solutions for our customers, we decided to commence the tour business.
Guests will discover the beautiful Hunter Valley as they spend their day at hand selected wineries being guided through their offering in private tastings. Each winery we visit has been hand selected to ensure that they are made to feel special and welcome, whilst enjoying some of the finest wines that the Hunter Valley show cases. Guests travel between wineries in air conditioned comfort stopping for a beautiful restaurant lunch, some Hunter Valley Cheese/Chocolate tasting and finish up with an optional gourmet dessert. Guests are picked up from their accommodation and our numbers are limited to 10 passengers to keep the tour personal.
The van that I operate is a Fiat Duccato Maxi. Much bigger than a Hiace, it seats only 10 people and is high enough for guests to stand inside. It also has significant cargo areas. Many operators use the Hiace and cram 15 guests in with no cargo space or headroom to stand. I want my guests to feel comfortable and for them to feel that the tour is personal. I have hand-picked the wineries that we visit to ensure that my guests get the best service possible whilst enjoying quality wine. I include lunch in my tour price (which also includes a glass of beer/ wine/ soft drink) this makes my price quite reasonable.I also offer wedding and concert transfers and charge a flat $30 per head. I will run a wine tour for as little as 2 guests, with no change to my price.
